The retail price for German wood pellets stays stable in October. At the beginning of the heating season, the average cost for Enplus A1 wood pellets in Germany is 233.78 EUR per tonne. That's 0.3% more than last month, but 7% less than in October 2014. One kilogram off pellets costs now 23.38 cents. One kilowatt-hour (kWh) of heat from pellets costs 4.68 cents. The price advantage of pellets over heating oil is 12.5%, as opposed to natural gas pellets have a price advantage of almost 30%.
The German Energy Wood and Pellet Association (DEPV) president Martin Bentele predicts increasing prices for German pellets for the remainder of this year.
In October 2015, German wood pellets recorded the following regional differences: in northern Germany, pellet price fell slightly again as compared to September. The price currently stands at 238.70 EUR/t for 6 tonnes purchases. In southern and central Germany, the price has increased slightly and now stands at 232.25/t and 233.91 EUR/t, respectively.
